Past

To illustrate the wide and varied repertoire performed by the City of Wolverhampton Choir, this list contains previous performances dating from March 2002.  During the bulk of this period, the choir was conducted by David Hart.  The post of musical director was then taken up by Gary Cole until Christmas 2008.  We then welcomed Joe Cooper, our former choral scholar and student at the Birmingham Conservatoire, to the post of Musical Director in January 2009. Joe stayed with the choir until September 2013 and the post was taken up by Gloucester Cathedral Lay Clerk William Waine in November 2013. William left the choir at the end of March 2014 to take up a post at Chichester Cathedral. William was followed by Daniel Galbreath who took his first performance on 28th June 2014 and conducted his final performance on 2nd July 2016.

The Creation
A joint collaboration with Wombourne & District Choral Society

'To celebrate the bicentennial of Josef Haydn's death the City and Wombourne choirs combined their considerable talents to perform one of the composer's best loved  works - The Creation.  This was the first time since 1975 that local choral societies have got together to present a large choral work and the result was most impressive...The 150-strong ensemble soon settled to produce a bright and confident sound.  Soprano Rachel Major showed a very pleasant tone, tenor Christopher Turner sang with great character and bass Christopher Foster contributed significantly.  Music director Ian Clarke always had matters very much under control.'
Jerald Smith  - Express and Star
